Backsplash ideas

I am looking for backsplash ideas for my kitchen. My floor will be a dark brown wood so I was hoping to lighten it up.

I don’t have a specific recommendation, but I think a simple creamy white tile with some shine would be gorgeous. Love your kitchen!

Do I see orange on back lower cabinets? Beth has given some of same tiles I was thinking of but let me add an additional thought or two. I am wondering if this is a mountain retreat? And I know you are thinking go lighter but you might want to explore some darker options making sure you have plenty of lighting. Or possibly bold color. What colors will be in adjoining room(s).

I just was picking up some bright copper or orange in your island stone. Adding copper might be cool too depending on stove and that back lower cabinet coloring. But here is rough mock up.

I’m in Colorado. Rustic looks good here. I didn’t think about copper but that looks really pretty. My granite does have some copper in it. I also like the creams too. My Granite is Nile River looks a little like Lapidus. Here is a picture of my fireplace tile that is open to the kitchen. I am going to put a rustic mantel on it to match the kitchen cabinets.

I also have a coffee bar in the kitchen that I wanted to do some kind of feature wall. Have a picture of it before stained. Also a picture of the greatroom that the kitchen opens up to.

Going to be gorgeous. The flooring looks really dark. If possible, you might want more walnut tone and less Expresso. Dark woods show everything. Seems you have the vision though. Carry on.

Flo, thank you, I agree with you on the floor. The sample we looked at was medium brown and when we got it in it was really dark. Not what we expected!!

Exchange that flooring if at all possible. We can help you find some copper backsplash choices if you wish? Could you take another photo straight on to backsplash wall that takes in most of wall.

Many great choices. Here are a few for inspiration. They would also be reflective and that would be a plus. Are you keeping island fixture? It is pretty outdated?

I’m sure one of the pros I’ll correct me if I’m wrong, but a creamy textured tile in the main cooking area and an interesting copper backsplash in the coffee prep area could be interesting. And if the flooring you received is wrong, SPEAK UP NOW and get it changed for what you really ordered.

Here is a pic before the stain of whole kitchen. My Sister told me I needed to change the light fixture but I really like it.

Haha! Sisters are always right! What an amazing space. Red Ryder makes interesting point, but I would make Wow! Factor the focal point on the range wall. Go plain on side wall. Maybe add center copper detail into side station tile layout.

You could choose a bone color tile and do a herringbone layout on range wall and do a stack layout for coffee station. Another option is a multi color tile approach. I would use copper pendants for your island.

If you only have one junction box, here is 3 light solution. Under $300

I love that last one everdebz posted too. If you go light backsplash tile.

RedRyder just took the thought out of my head! When Flo brought up the copper tiles, and OP mentioned the coffee bar, I thought the copper would be a perfect choice over there, and the creamier tiles on the perimeter area.

This glass tile is a gorgeous shade. Dal Tile Horizons in Reed.

    grab a sample, here:

They also carry a copper color glass tile in a few diff sizes

Or you could choose to use this caramel colored tile throughout. Nabi-Sea Wind-Tilebar.

glass tile would be another option

this is a white marble w/similar color dots that would match your stone, IF you want something a bit more traditional looking.

Flo, I like the second light, of course!
Beth, I really like that first glass tile! That copper tile is also beautiful. Thank you for all the ideas.

Terry, this is fun for me... so I wonder if there are elements for the whole area you want: tiles over stove in a design? or sheen or distressed copper? [I think the stove is opposite fp, and quite in view]....

wondering little thing if backsplash will have pot filler. Some photos show ORB on creamy light tile, accented.

I forgot - the kitchen ceiling is cool - it's not flat is it? depending on the whole area - might a soft color on ceiling be a cool element?

Everdebz .. I decided to do the ceiling 9’ flat because the pitch would have not fallen in the middle of the room. I have a pot filler above the stove. I was thinking about doing a design over the coffee bar in the middle of the cabinets. I was also thinking of bringing the fireplace stone on the coffee bar wall.

oh... as to design location: would coffee place have counter item[s] covering the design?

No, it would be in between the two cabinets. I left an open space to possibly do something there. The cabinets are tall enough to put the coffee machine under them.

Copper tiles sound interesting. Love the idea of a feature tile in coffee bar area. I don't think I would do fireplace stone in kitchen/coffee bar area.

Yes On the copper. I really like the Dal Tile Horizons the Beth H suggested. I am currently looking for a sample to see in person.

If your island has an overhang for stools, be SURE that the overhang is properly supported with steel or wood brackets.

Yes, they put metal brackets in three places. I am thinking about getting a couple of corbels the ends. But then again in might limit my leg space.

  • PRO

You can place corbels inset enough so chairs fit either side.

Medallions over countertops are passé. Just keep it simple. You can always hang a picture if you want. Get Joe’s Sticky Stuff. Amazing stuff no residue and allows you to hang stuff without nails!

You have to get a sample of the copper glass tile Beth suggested! Wow. That is gorgeous.

Olsenia, just noticed you asked about granite counter top. It is called Nile River
