That depends on how big of a table you want in there (or how many people you expect to dine in there). Generally speaking, you need at least 2 feet on either side of the table from the walls (assuming no other furniture), so, you could, in theory, comfortably put in a 3x5 rectangle or oval table into that room, which would seat 4-6 people (though depending on the layout, and where your room meets the kitchen, you may be able to push that to 3x6).

I think this space is too small unless you do benches on both sides and one is up against the wall. even then you won't be able to walk around it when people are sitting.

Too small even with benches which BTW is the most awful seating in a DR Benches are not even wonderful at a picnic table and are impossible to use if you are wearing a dress unless everyone gets up and pulls out the bench. Is this part of a kitchen renovation or just wasted space you would like to use .

That made me laugh- I hadn’t thought about the dignity of the diners! On a day to day basis I thought the children could go on the bench.

Its part of a reconfiguration of the downstairs space. At the moment we access the garden via a (usually messy) utility room

I'm so happy I replaced 2 chairs for an added bench in my kitchen. I can now seat 5 grandkids there. It also makes my kitchen look bigger without the backs of the chairs showing.
