It looks to me you have too many tables which makes it look cluttered.

Yes I would slide the sofa in that nook, facing the room, and put the lamp on the fireplace ledge where you now have the black vase. It would be a better height there anyway since it is too tall as it is. The edge of a lamp shade should be below eye level for a seated person.

Put the pair of chairs facing it. Do you really need the third chair? The room is a bit crowded with furniture but you can take out one of the end tables now. Push the 2 square tables together so they "read" as one long coffee table.

The wall decor above the fireplace needs to be replaced with something smaller. The white flowers are crowded and will be even more so when the lamp is there - leave that wall blank. Clear the hearth of all decor items. Remove the 3 wall items to the right of the window. In a smaller room, you need to be more sparing with decor.

Hang the TV on the door wall.

If the dark cabinet behind the TV can serve as a TV cabinet, I would use it as such. Then, I would suggest you relocate the large seahorse picture and put the TV cabinet against the wall where the picture had been. The next step would be putting the round-back chair in the corner where you did have the TV and cabinet and place a lamp and small table nearby. I agree with one poster who suggested you put the two square tables together so that they function as one coffee table. I would leave the sofa where it is so that people seated there can see the fireplace and the TV. Of course, you need to relocate the chair that is under the seahorse picture, and it could be that you could use this chair in another part of the house.

Love the green wall with seahorse. If you move the sofa to the green
wall, you lose the fireplace as a focal point. As it is now, you can see
tv and fireplace. Where would you mount tv if you moved the sofa? You
can easily fit a floor lamp in if you move the sofa, so if that
arrangement works for you, I wouldn't let the lamp problem stop me. Or
you could add a wall lamp at one end or both, if needed.

There are so many chairs it feels claustrophobic to me. Do you need
all of them for seating? Eliminate the one next to the tv if you can.
The round tables are about the same size as the chairs so feel much too
large for the space to me. I would get a much smaller end table for the chair under
the seahorse and a lamp more like these for reading by the chair. I
would eliminate the coffee tables and add a narrow console behind the
couch for one of the table lamps. Maybe a very small table at the tv end
of the couch.

a couple thoughts. to me, the fireplace needs to be incorporated more by expanding a ledge across the back wall. the pic im showing is a corner fireplace that has an expanded ledge with the tv above it. i think something like that would help. i then would remove much of the furniture on that wall. and replace the large round table to the right of the sofa to a smaller one so that the chair right in front of the fireplace can be moved closer to the sofa so its not blocking the fireplace. keep another chair at the other end of the sofa facing into the room.

Too many small tables. Too many small things on the tables. The four window frames over the fireplace could be replaced by the seahorse picture. The flower pic on the side of the fireplace can go elsewhere. The white-framed piece to the left of the tv repeats the tall-narrow theme. The green walls make the room appear smaller. Can you move the sofa back about 8”-12” to give yourself a little walking space in the sitting area? Can the chair next to the tv move to another room? Do you need seating for six people often?

Waaayyyy too many things packed into that room. It’s suffocating. It would be more helpful to have a picture taken from further back. Like the picture above, I would put the tv where the seahorse is and slide the sofa to the left (to the left to the left ha ha). There are too many chairs and tables. You have an overhead light, why are you using a lamp? Is the overhead light not right for the space? You can easily replace it, or put it on a dimmer switch if it’s too bright. You can make the fireplace more attractive- do you use it? Is it wood burning? Whoever sits in that chair right next to it would roast. But you really need to unpack and simplify that room, it’s quite a nice space.

Yes, we all agree you are due for a makeover! And I think we agree that the seahorse is your focal piece of art. So start by removing all the hanging items and planning the makeover around the seahorse, which I would hang above the fireplace. Is that baseboard heat running on the seahorse wall? That will impact what you do here. As you know by now, tables and chairs are overwhelming the space. Do you prefer the single chair that seems to match the two "coffee tables," or do you want to keep the two MCM style chairs? You need to make that choice and also eliminate the two big round tables. Selling your "castoff" pieces will give you a bit of money to buy something new, (credenza for the new TV, coffee table or side table for the MCM chairs.) All depends on what you decide stays or goes. When you've decided, move all but your preferred seating out to that sunroom (?) and stand at the seahorse wall to take another photo toward the kitchen bar which we haven't seen. Also take one that shows us the door wall opposite the window wall. Then we can get started on arranging the remaining pieces, accessorizing and doing finishing touches.

If you'd rather have light from the side than overhead, consider using plug-in wall sconces to light your space rather than table or floor lamps. I would not put the sofa so close to the fireplace on that wall. It will also make the room actually seem smaller if it is jammed in the space. What is behind the sofa? Do you have space to move it about 6" further back from the center of the room? That might be all you would need to give things a little more room.

I agree I have way too much in this room and need to de clutter, just trying to figure where to start.
The strange configuration to the left facing the door is where I have separated off a section of the house for my Airbnb. In a couple of months I’ll be having that built in, so there will be solid walls there. Having the room entrance placement where it is means I can’t shift anything closer to that end of the room without making it feel like running a maze getting in.
I liked the idea of extending the fireplace along the wall. That would also bring the sofa forward to line up closer to the front edge of the fireplace.
I should have the huge non-working tv down in a few days.

Also, the mirror on the floor below the kitchen bar isn’t there for decoration, I’m waiting to get someone to tote it upstairs to get it out of the way.

The fireplace was covered over years ago before I moved here, so what I have now is the electric, virtual fire, so no heat to worry about, just a nice visual.

Yes, getting ready to do new paint, moved my office home, etc. figured I might just as well get everything done while I’m doing.

Using a much smaller table allowed me to move the sofa down quite a bit which gave me plenty of space at the entrance.

yes, so much better, it can breathe now, LOL. i might move the sofa back the other direction just a bit so you can move the round side table to the right of it and then move the chair away from the fireplace a bit. the chair would be close to the arm of the sofa and the round table could be used by both the chair and sofa on that end. love the seahorse on the fireplace.

I would put the 2 chairs side by side, either facing the sofa with TV opposite sofa, or paired chairs on the wall where the TV is, and the TV where you previously had the seahorse painting. Or, third option, put one chair where you now have the TV, and the TV on the seahorse wall but to the right (not centered). Either way, mount the TV on the wall.

You have plenty of room to scoot the sofa back 6". Then you can also move the bunching tables so they are about 18" from the front of the sofa. Right now, it still really looks like you are crowding the fireplace. At least try it?

Yes, the tv needs to go on the wall where the Seahorse was. Seahorse has a fantastic spot above the fireplace. Scoot the couch towards the entry and get rid of the chair next to the fireplace.

You've made good progress in paring down. Do you know what is in the "chase" beside the FP that I've marked in blue? Is it possible to wall mount TV there on an articulated arm? If you could do that then the two chairs could go where you have TV now and everyone could easily watch.

Since you’re using tables as tv stands, could you push the coffee table tables to the wall left of the fireplace and put the tv there across from the couch? Then move the chair to the wall the tv is and the round table to the sofa side. You don’t need a coffee table. There are so many corners in the room it makes me nervous. This way you get to see the fireplace and the view out the windows.
