My 18 year-old oven stack has a Dacor 30" Electric Convection Oven, a warming drawer in the bottom and a 24" Stainless Steel Dacor Microwave/Convection Combo on the top of the stack.

The microwave/convection combo oven may have died. The power comes on. The turntable has ceased to turn and therefore won't trigger the microwave to heat. For a brief period of time, I could jiggle the starter button and it would start up. I can't jiggle it to start now. Because I spend too much time on YouTube, I see that may have a short in the power switch or a bad door contact. My guess is it would cost around $300 to repair, if the parts are available. No guarantee. Plus, I'll have to drive an hour each way through heavy city traffic to take it to the repair shop.

Or, the other options.

I really don't need the convection oven feature. I do use the microwave on a daily basis. I know that all microwaves come from Sharp and get rebadged for ridiculous prices. This is a perfect example.

A new Dacor microwave convection combo oven goes for $1,099 at AJ Madison. it's equivalent Sharp is $579 at Best Buy. Both have stainless steel interiors.

I could step down a bit and get the plain old Dacor Microwave without the oven feature. The Dacor microwave only is a bargain at $700. Or, I could take a leap and buy what appears to be the very similar basic unit at Sharp for $189.00.

One issue to consider that may complicate matters is the trim kit for the wall oven stack. Obviously, my current trim kit coordinates with the existing installed trim kit for the main oven/warming drawer and I would like to keep it if possible. The current trim kit doesn't even need to come off for removal or installation. The units plug in and slide into place. If I have to replace the trim kit, the Sharp trim kit is $279.

I have no plans to renovate this kitchen, I only want to maintain it. Thoughts from my appliance experts?
