Removing range hood

We would like to remove the range hood pictured below and install a stainless steel wall mounted/chimney style range hood. The present one is glued or connected to the cabinets at the side. Does anyone know if that can be done. We are not looking to paint the cabinets. We are getting stainless steel appliances.
