Impatience doesn’t rush science along. It takes time for everything to dry out, and them sitting there watching the dehumidifier can’t do a darn thing. Let the equipment do its work.

So how long does science say it should take to dry out?? They have not been here in 5 days! Since I will be paying thousands of dollars to these people, yes they can come check on the dehumidifier and move it to the wet area! We now have visible mold in another area... so no the equipment is not simply doing it’s job!

The dehumidifiers will need to run for a couple of weeks. It’s not magic overnight.

So the mold should be allowed to climb up my walls for a few weeks? The point of water remediation is to remove water and reverse any damage. My complaint was that I have high moisture levels below my sink cabinet, where the leak started, while the rest of my subfloor is dry. This area has not been vented. I now have visible mold! I didn’t rent a dehumidifier... I hired a water remediation company!

A lot will depend on weather humidity. High humidity does not absorb moisture from the air very well. Took a week for carpet/pad in a 4'x5' area to dry with carpet/pad pulled up and large strong fan blowing on it day and night after ac drain stopped up & soaked the carpet/pad. Water leak from refrigerator that ran under kitchen pantry and walls into the next room under a desk took several weeks before it was dry. That said, the remediation company should be spraying mold retardant in the area. I sprayed Lysol on back of carpet and pad.
