I am currently in the process of building a new home and would like some suggestions on ideal locations for the fireplace.

The scenarios I've considered are:

1. Keep it default as in the floor plan and mount the TV over the fireplace but this would require a design like:

That would place the TV at an ideal viewing height. I've seen some designs where the TV is mounted over the mantel and it doesn't look good nor is it a good viewing height. My only concern here is: how practical are these designs? It looks nice but would obviously require shelving to be put in to hold the cable box, etc.

2. Move the fireplace to the highlighted green area in the image. This would mean removing the centre window that brings in a lot of natural light and leave the entire wall for a

TV and entertainment centre. It would like something like

3. No fireplace at all

Would appreciate any insight!
