It about to turn autumn but still very hot and sunny.

i wouldnt have planted a tree in very hot and sunny conditions.. holding it for a later planting date.. when it would be more forgiving for the tree ..

so i presume it is very stressed .. and said stress is showing in the leaves .. water it deeply and properly.. and it will have a chance to recover .. see link ...

also.. the sun is in decline .. which is what fall means.. and that is part of the trigger for trees to start shutting down the leaves to fall off ...

also.. back when i was a newb.. and didnt know what i was doing ... and caused some plants to lose all their leaves.. but if properly watered.. they can releaf ...

Ken, the tree is in a pot, so presumably was bought in a pot. It hasn’t been planted in the ground.
