How about this one(Kirkland brand, around $60)? You could hang it a little bit higher but not too much so it is at your eye level. I am shorter than my middle child and she is 8; so, you can imagine where my eye level would be at. xD

Do you have another spot for the chest, perhaps? It's pretty but looks squished there.

Yes, what would you put there instead? The current chest is 36"; there is 41" total. There is actually 2" on the left stairs side and 3" distance on the right.

You could put a little bench there instead...I plan to put one in our teeny alcove area because we
would like to have a place where guests can take off there shoes without having to go to the mudroom. ;)
