i believe insulin injections are given in the muscle rather than i.v. that being the case, your vet can show you how to do this and save you lots of time. my son and his wife give their cat insulin injections.

one of my dogs gets an adequan injection once a month to control arthritis pain. i get the medicine and needles/syringes from my vet. it's really very easy to learn!

I gave my dog insulin injections for years at home. It is not a deep injection. I use to just pull up on a roll of skin usually on the back of the neck and inject the insulin. He never felt it. It’s not a muscle injection. I did this twice a day and usually moved around a couple of inches so it would not be in the same spot all the time. The syringes are disposable use them once I bought them at Walmart along with the insulin. I did this every day twice a day for five years. I’m sure your vet will be happy to show you how to do it it’s really easy.

I gave my diabetic Westie insulin shots for years twice a day. It is just like people insulin, you just use a smaller quantity. Once you know what you are doing, it's no big deal. It requires a prescription and your vet should give you a sharps container to dispose of the syringes safely.
