We heard so many bad things about LL, but we bought 3000 sq. ft. of solid Bellawood red cumaru from them anyway, sight unseen. Sight unseen because they didn’t have any at the store near us. It was a very risky move but it was nearly half price at $3.99 sq. ft. and we had never seen it that cheap on their website before. We were afraid we would miss the sale. It was also less than half the price of all the other prices we were given elsewhere for cumaru. We wanted cumaru, and had never heard of red cumaru, another reason it was a risky move. Well, so far the process has been nothing short of top notch. The gentleman we worked with jumped through hoops for us to make sure we got it at that price and from the same lot. There was an issue getting so much for one order. LL even called us after delivery to see how we liked the flooring. Even the delivery guys were great! The flooring is gorgeous. We actually like it better than the “regular” cumaru. It has a subtle rich red tone. Not too much. We’re not experts, but it seems to have a really nice finish and it seems to be very good quality. Very consistent. After sorting through about 2/3 of it, there is very little waste, and 90% of that is just extra dark or extra light pieces. A handful of shorties. So far only a few boards are mismatched in width. During installation more may show up, but I can’t imagine there being too many if we could only find a few. Our question now is if we can trust them to install it. They use a firm called Floor Tex out of PA. We can’t find any information on them so we were hoping someone may have had experience with them. It’s very hard wood and so far, we can’t find an installer in our area, South Jersey, with experience with wood that hard. It has a 3400 Janka rating.
