Neither. There is just no reason for the huge blank wall between the rod and the wood trim! Brink the rod down to just above the wood work!! I rather prefer the stationary panel look which made me realize your dark rod is an issue. I would try a chrome or paint it the color of the wall if you go with one of the other looks. Just blinds is NEVER a good look IMHO--very unfinished and sterile.

Super, thx for this! I removed the wall art when taking these photos because it was in the way and I wanted to focus on the panels, so the room does is actually more finished ;) so I think you’re suggesting something closer to 3rd photo with softer color rod. Thx!

IMO you have a bit of MCM going on and I think that style needs drapes. I hate panels that could not possibly cover the window they look cheap and useless. I would do solar shades to control heat and UV rays but they allow you to keep the view and give you daytime privacy then add drapes for nightime privacy. Drapes at least 2 1/2 x the width of the rod is a good start. I lke them hung like the 3rd pic or to the ceiling. I have a MCM house and picture windows and IMO drapes just are right for the style.
