I am really obsessed with plants.

Your home is lovely. It looks like much of the landscaping has been there for quite awhile and some of it has gotten too big for the space. I'd start by removing your least favorite plants to allow the best ones to take center stage. Then remove some of the lower branches and any ratty foliage of the remaining plants to visually open up the space. If you're selective in your plant removal you'll still have privacy where you need it. Good luck with your project.

In answer to what you asked, namely the left side:

1) Plants there should be very low plants.

2) Choose either to coordinate or to contrast with the right side.

Coordination would have multiple kinds of plants that show some deep red and some deep purple.

Contrast would have either plants of one kind ( I like that approach), or of multiple kinds. Color scheme would be either all of one contrasting color such as yellow ( I like unicolor scheme), or a salad to include yellow, orange, white.

Whatever course you take, please have natives, and pollinators, at the top of your mind.

Your front window - are you wedded to having a plant block it? I like the look of a four-panes-over- (?) panes window, and your painted trim is just right. I would rather see a large window box across the base if you want some plants blocking the lower panes.

A bit of furniture on the patio to give a gracious "rest awhile" appearance?

Yes I have outside furniture in patio, but now it all blocked by plans.

It is very nice as it is. I only have a few comments.

There is a general rule in gardening to not plant tall plants in front of low plants. I see a bit of that happening.

You have a shrub covering most of a window. It looks like it could be reduced to below the window.

I hope you will show us the after picture.
