I like your house. I know this doesn’t answer your question, but I think new landscaping would dramatically update your home.

Your home is a home from the 70's. Designed to be somewhat minimal and contemporary. All your landscaping is pushed up in front of your home and since the lot is spacious, moving it further towards the street would help.

IMO the interior can handle a transitional style if you consider this below transitional.

Why do you need to do anything to the outside siding?

Have you thought about adjusting the roof of the garage? That's the only 'shed' part of this house. Does it hold the only attic space? Why is it so very tall.

You could simply reface your garage doors with siding again if they need to be replaced or you could select a more contemporary door style, but they are $$$

@BeverlyFLADeziner It's the original cedar. It' starting to rot in areas and split. It's also on the original garage doors, which need to be replaced. I was thinking a vertical siding like board and batten for easier upkeep. Would love to hear your recommendations if you have other ideas. I'm so out of my element with this style house.

If you want ideas, search that name and you should get a lot of hits (are you in washington or denver??)

most were painted in very earthy colors. But now, you can do so much to play up on the modern vibe.

This would be a stunning redo for your home. at the very least, copy the landscaping.

I'd think about getting rid of those shrubs. they really detract from the home. Ditto the taller trees against the siding.

I know that wood can rot from water from downspouts and sprinklers, but new siding can easily be pieced in to fix that. No reason to completely reside your home. That's way too much $$$

Talk with garage door guys. If your doors are ok underneath, maybe you only need new facing. Doors are refaced with all manner of wood

If you need to restain you have lots of choices and NOT from the big box stores

How would you like your house to appear. Maybe if it were a deeper shade it wouldn't appear so contemporary to you. All of these looks could be appropriate for your home.

Your photo is taken too far away for me to see the details on your wood siding. Can you get closer and show us some if your issues so we don't misdirect you. Also if your heart is set on Board and Batten it might be possible to apply the battens over your siding. Depends on the details.

I agree with Beverly on redoing the garage roofline. I think that the rest of your home looks great!

Is there a room over the garage? If so, can you live without it? I think that BeverlyFLADeziner is on the right track. Reworking the garage roof so that it is no higher than the other section of high roof will remove the most obvious odd portion.

We have a similar house also. I was wanting to do something like the picture below.

Inspiration to be "the house" on the block. Board & Batten, mixed with cedar or other interesting wood, charcoal paint, and a major overhaul of the landscaping.

I love the lines, including the garage, paint the whole house black, navy or white, for modern drama, then get a modern front door, and similar garage door, as others have shown, relandscape, and you’ll have the coolest house ever.

I like your house. But I would start with ripping out the landscape. It is too much of the same thing. It overwhelms the house and ruins the vertical lines.

I think board and batten would look great. I think white or a dark color would be a plus. Good luck!

Lots of potential here.. a bold color could be all you need.

I like your house! The landscaping is detracting from your curb value. I think a deeper, earthy color would look nice. We have a less dramatic 70s contemporary home and resided it with vertical Hardy panels. It’s more subtle than board and batten but we love it.
