Any advice on which brand/model to buy? Seems like they are either indoor or outdoor, so indoor.

No opinion on brand, just that they are only approximate in measuring accuracy; I wouldn't cut a board based on the readout from one.

More than accurate enough for any normal measuring applications -- trimming out a house, for example.

The answer to your question depends on what you want to use it for and how accurate you need the measurements to be.

Thank you all, I passed this info to my husband. I was going to buy one for him but considering the range of products I thought it best he pick it out. Looks like the Leica is what he was looking for.

I bought a Bosch GLM 15 off ebay. The GLM 20 looks similar: used, new.
