Replacing Kitchen Sink - Please Help!

Hi folks. We are having our cabinets painted, and our granite counters epoxied soon and I really want to replace the two bowl sink to a single bowl beforehand.


The sink cut-out measures 28.75 x 15.5.

The overall measurement underneath is approx. 31 x 18, in a 36" base cabinet.


I love the rectangular workstation sink, so this is my problem:

1) Would it be an issue to buy an undermount, rectangular sink with these rounded granite edges? What dimensions should the new sink be?

2) Would a drop-in sink work better or does this shape make it prohibitive to drop in? Again, what should the dimensions be?
