It is usually identified as having a cool blue/gray undertone, so you'd need to stay away from any beige colors.

Patty - Chantilly Lace is the current front runner for our cabinets, trim & doors. Do you have any tips or advice pertaining to this color? I'm worried our home is not bright enough to pull it off...

I had a client who insisted on CL as a cabinet choice, paired with Gray Owl as a wall choice. I tried to show her how that did not work in her home. 6 months later... She ended up paying 8K to have everything repainted to warmer color tones. I only know that, because the cabinet painter is a colleague. She didn’t want me to know!

There are 117 things that I consider when doing a custom color consult. Which is why it’s difficult to give specific advice on a post. But the 2 most important broad categories to consider are lighting, and the other permanent elements of the home. As a general rule, warm whites are more forgiving of less lighting and homes with existing warm elements. Good luck!

I may end up being like “User’s” client and repainting, but I’m going to see how it all goes. I chose Chantilly Lace trim (first), so I went with Chantilly Lace cabinets that go to the ceiling and knit into the crowns. They do look bright/clean—maybe too much for some, but our kitchen faces west and gets a lot of warm light in the afternoon. I wanted to love White Dove or Simply White, but both looked too yellow-ish and at times the White Dove looked almost dingy. Might have looked fine if it were all painted out (Simply White definitely looked too buttery in the afternoon for my taste.) in White Dove, but I windows were already done in the CL, so we went with it. Decided walls will be in a deep blue which seems to look great during tests.

I used BM Chantilly Lace for all my kitchen cabinets, built-ins, trim, crown and doors. I tested all the popular whites and CL was the only white that did not turn dingy in my north facing FL kitchen with large windows. Once I picked the CL for the kitchen, I used it for everything else to have continuity. Also easier for any touch-ups down the road knowing that all your cabinets/trim/doors are the same white.

Most of my walls are BM White Dove.

I don't think CL has a "cool/blue/gray" undertone. It is a neutral white that doesn't lean warm or cool. It looks great with most colors.
