what would you do with this empty space next to fireplace?

We opted to have a fireplace in our new build, but they need to bring out the wall to do so which leaves narrow spaces next to the fireplace that I don’t know what to do with from a design point. Any ideas? Attached is the only pic they have of an example of a fireplace in the space. Below that is a pic of it w/o fireplace to help give perspective of the surroundings space.

    I would ignore it. Once all your furniture and decor is in place I bet it will simply “disappear”. At least wait and reassess
