Since you have a farmhouse style to the room I would select a linear lantern for the table and replace the too small window mirror for some colorful primitive art.

With 8ft ceilings, would the bare bulbs in the first fixture recommended be too glaring? I am also looking for a new fixture and was thinking I needed to have the bulbs covered with either white glass, or a shade.

Adding a simple black transitional chandelier that is larger in scale would visually balance and update the dining area and tie in with the adjoining spaces in colour and style. To further connect the spaces, paint the wall where the mirror is a creamy tone similar to the fireplace and backsplash tile. Lastly, replace the mirror with a gallery wall of black framed botanical prints for a touch of greenery.

I like your light fixtures over your island. Is the metal nickel? I would think you'd want to keep the metal the same between the island and the table so they have something in common.

One nice think about browsing on Houzz is that if you see something you like, you can see many more fixtures that are same shape or sensibility, in all different price ranges. If you see something you love but it's not on sale, you can google search it by name to find the cheapest price for it.

One thing i would consider would be to paint the legs of the dining table the same rich very dark brown as your kitchen cabinets and bar stools.

I can't tell from your picture exactly what your fireplace is like, but if is basically an open hole, any feeling for a firescreen? Don't know if the depth of your hearth would take one, or if suits your taste or ultimate style for the room, -- depends on what kind of light fixture you buy and what replaces the mirror. But they are not very expensive and even just a plain one might give a finishing touch to the space

One thing to remember is how easy the fixture is to clean. Glass gets cloudy and dirty looking very easily. If it was me, I’d stick to the cage type fixtures with minimal to no glass. I’m replacing the pendants over my island for this exact reason, they’re too hard to clean to keep them looking nice.

Search for linear lantern or linear farmhouse.

if you've got two tall candlesticks, try setting them on the table at the different lengths, or use the decorative bottles on your mantle. . Also, if you have an idea of what is going to replace the mirror in terms of size, take some painters tape and outline the size on the wall. I can't tell if you've got a rug, but if not and you plan on adding one, tape out the dimensions of that too.
