This is the present entry way minus the decor pieces

This is upstairs and I am thinking of switching it with the red cabinet to lighten the entry

The existing red one ir the lighter one. I want my dark entry brighter. PLEASE

You don't have room for either cabinet by the door. You open the door and walk directly into the cabinet. Your entry will look much better and more spacious with just the antique mirror on the wall. Leave the floor clear. That also allows you to turn your rug the other direction so it fits the doorway.

The lighter one looks more like one you would find in a bedroom or powder room. I agree with calidesign. If anything, a nice floor tray for boots and shoes?

How about repainting your entry and living a creamy white to brighten it up. Definitely paint your living room ceiling white. Instead of the cabinet in the entry try a wall shelf below the red mirror.
