Can this stain color be fixed?

Hi All,

We could really use some help and insight on what to do here. We are in the finishing process on our new build and are so excited to get things wrapped up.

Our stair newels and railings are alder wood, as well as the cabinet and ceiling beams in our basement. The original color stain was intended to be a grayish-brown. We ended up with a brown that has a green tone and looks like algae. It might be hard to see in my pics, but it is not attractive in person. My husband and I were so bummed when we saw how everything turned out.

Is there anything that can be done to correct this color? What caused the green hue? Is it the nature of alder wood or an issue in the stain application process? Professional input and advice on how to rectify this problem would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
