one thing for sure.. its not a houseplant ... so dont think about that ...

once we know what your winter is like.. we can go from there.. location will do that well enough ...

keep in mind.. its a tree.. not a child ... if fully zone appropriate ... .... then the only issue is what happens to the pot itself during winter ... will you kill the roots .. and if not.. you should win ....

My eastern redbud was just transpnated into a pot and given to me. i live in Northern Ohio where winters can get pretty cold with cold winds and ice. it is only about 3” tall with two leaves. should I keep her in the house for the winter and plant her after last frost in May? if so what care does she need..full sun? watering schedule?

You should plant your tree- it will not survive kept indoors as a houseplant.

If planting is not possible then sink it in the ground outdoors pot and all as described in the post to which you replied.

they are not houseplants.. it will die ...

plant it immediately ... timing is perfect ..

or do it when the leaves fall off.. they are deciduous.. so dont freak out.. when teh leaves fall off ..

put a big stake next to it.. so it doesnt get stepped on.. and protect from vermin.. like bunnies ...

dont kill it with too much love.. its a nearly indestructible tree ... much further north than where you are.. winter isnt important it.. except for the dormancy it needs ...

Yes, our soil stinks! cant get a hydrangea to bloom..have one that gets lovely display od showy green leaves and is 3’x3’ but not one flower. my roses hate it too.
