IMO the 3 pictures with the bold color doors look like you are trying to hard. If you want the bold pop of color on the door keep the house the color it is and just change the door. However, I agree that the house looks nice the way it is and I would make other changes to enhance the curb appeal. I also like the house with the cute dog on the porch :)

If the front doesn’t get a lot of sun, why not a brighter color than grey? A soft green or even white will counteract the lack of sun. And yes, money towards landscaping does wonders for any house. Your guests will appreciate some kind of portico to stand under when they come to visit. Flo is right.

Hi. Thanks for all the suggestions. The house does need to be painted. It is peeling on the sides and the back of the house. i hate the existing colors. i am currently working with a landscape architect to plant new foundation plantings. We are going to add a portico too. I like the idea of a front porch but we just put the walkway and driveway in and I don’t think I could put a porch on because of walkway.

I don’t love Gray but the house is near the beach so I am trying to come up with costal colors. Also, I will be using Ben Moore. I can’t use SW colors. Thanks.

I would not do a gray on that house I like a soft gray/ green or sage IMO a lot nicer than gray. The walkway should have come from the street and a couple of steps up would have made the entry to your home nicer. As for now I would still add a porvch on the right side and IMO true foundation plantings will be too much for the house. I think I would do a porch and redo the walkway and then add the porcha all across the front so worth every penny you would spend IMO I would not clutter the front with any shutters.

If I choose to go in the white direction, would someone suggest a white that won’t be too blinding. Should I stick with white trim. Or maybe a colored trim.

White/cream home with blue trim, one of my favorites.

Personally, I would not do gray. There are many other colors more suited to the coastal region, in my view.

Look up inspiration photos under Ballet White exteriors. It’s a great color - not jarring white and no yellow tint. You might like it. I DO love the last color Flo showed you. A soft green is great if you’re going for a “beach feel” without blue.

how about a pewter grey

Hi. I tried Pewter by Ben Moore and it looked blue. I am thinking of gray owl or silver chain. I would have them darkened. I was thinking of painting my trim the same color as the body of the house or a darker gray. If not, white. Any thoughts. Thank you all for your help. I would add color with the front door.

@houssan -I love that house and that combination! Such a soft grey it’s almost silver. Molly’s house sounds like it doesn’t get a lot of sun. This is the best “Grey” for that situation. If you want gray, Molly.

Thank you Houssan for the Fieldstone idea. I tried it this afternoon. It looks good. it was a beautiful day today on Cape Cod. Plenty of sun. I painted Fieldstone on all four sides of my house and I really liked it. What a nice feeling after 14 other colors. I was happy with the front of the house that gets very little sun. Would you use the simply white on the trim around the windows? Or should I try to match the color white from my windows. Thanks for all your answers. Everyone!!

Match the white in your windows. If the trim is even a slight bit darker, the white from your windows will stand out and make them look cheap.

The trim is currently painted Behr Ultra white. I understand that is a very bright white. I am using Ben Moore. Any suggestions on which Ben Moore whites might be as white as Behr Ultra white.

I always use Ben Moore. To be honest I feel like I am overthinking this whole process. If I introduce another line of paint I’ll be driving all over to pick up samples. I think I can find a white in the be Moore line. I thought someone might narrow it down to a ben Moore that is a bright white.

Yes. I think the replacement windows have a grey tinge to them.

You could sample Ben Moore white ice OC-58 for your trim. It’s shown as a coordinating color for Fieldstone.

Match it to your windows. Otherwise, it will look weird.
