Thank you, everyone! bpath, no when the door is all the way open, the light switch cannot be accessed. The door before was really awkward in that tight space, so much so that the previous owner had taken it off, so I think this worked out better. The builder should have initially put a pocket door in, but they didn't. Since we remodeled this house ourselves, I didn't want to tackle that project and a barn door seemed like a more diy solution.

A T, the paint on the wall is BM Classic Gray, flat. It's a great neutral paint!

Really nice design. Love the sofa and hutch and the arch lamp and quite a few other elements. One critique because you've almost got it perfect- the fireplace stone is a little too bright of a white, the brightness is competing with the barn door and I think it should "step back" into your beautiful wall color.

Juli-- Such a good point. It's funny, because I meant to put a third coat of paint on the fireplace, one that was a little less bright as you mentioned, then got lazy and figured it wouldn't be noticed! Haha- so I loved that you noticed! Guess I need to put that back on the to do list!!

Beautiful! What paint/product did you use on the fireplace? We have a very similar stone on ours that could also use a face-lift.

Thank you everyone for all your kind comments! During COVID, because I was feeling anxious watching the news 24/7, I decided that it was time for me to tackle the kitchen. I had been dreading it because of all the sanding and painting -- but I decided since I was quarantined, I might as well have something to show for it. I will include some before, after, and a couple in the process pictures. I'll even throw in my cleaning out the cupboard picture, because we all know, these projects can get ugly!! Anyway, the kitchen isn't yet complete-- I just ordered some white subway tiles and will attempt to install a herringbone pattern on the back to the ceiling. Overall, we are very happy with the results as the space is a lot brighter and again, more cohesive with the living room, which is all open concept. It's a small space, and it really needed to work together. Thanks again, everyone for all your thoughtfulness and encouragement!!
