I love my Frigidaire all fridge/all freezer combo. It’s roomy and stores a lot. I think it’s great value for the pair, especially if you have a second fridge or chest freezer in the basement or garage. Why not have them side by side if you've got the space?

My appliances don’t match since I picked them for a different reasons. I don’t think it really matters if it’s stainless steel. Although I might have chosen differently if I lived in a neighborhood where integrated appliances are standard.

The only complaint I have about the fridge is the motor is loud when it runs. I insulated/soundproofed the wall behind the fridge with Rockwool and it did make a difference but it’s still loud.

Are your other appliances stainless as well?? If so, does the fridge/freezer combo match well with the stainless finishes? We are planning g on putting the fridge freezer combo side by side with the trim kit

In a previous kitchen I had stainless 48" Kitchenaid fridge/freezer, stainless 48" DCS range, stainless hood, stainless Thermador wall oven/microwave stack, Stainless Miele DW and stainless ULine undercounter fridge and they all blended in fine as "stainless appliances". Even the different handle designs was non issue.

Most of my appliances are stainless. I have a Jenn Air range and a Whirpool dishwasher without a handle in stainless steel. And a white Miele combi steam oven. My mom has a Frigidaire Professional French door fridge and a Bosch range in stainless steel. They blend in together.

i'm in the same boat now, but i have time (still in the design phase for a new construction, permits will take forever with covid..). torn between the frigidaire and the electrolux icon - although i hate that they're not energy star certified... I can also get some discount on both, but not on premium brands. i felt the price difference between these and the next brand that offers column refrigeration (usually premium appliance brands) is huuuge and probably not totally worth it (i am getting miele wall ovens, wolf or bluestar rangetop, bosch dishwasher, but i felt i can and should save on the fridge/freezer).

I think you've got a great appliance mix. Try not to stress out about having a Frigidaire or Electrolux mixed in there and think about how you'll spend the $5-10K "savings"!! Much more fun.

They are both nice looking sets. I think the Icon would look good with the range top and Miele. I can’t remember if there’s a plastic or stainless steel piece that attaches the handle to the door on the Icon but we do remember it being nicer than the Frigidaire. The Frigidaire has a dark grey plastic piece.

I looked up the energy usage rating (331kWH/year). It seems pretty low to me. Does it matter if it's not Energy Star certified if it’s low? http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/energyguides/Freezers/FPRU19F8R_EG.PDF

Today I saw the modifications on the new Frigidaire model and it's cool (it's on the their website). It has now an internal water filter/dispenser. I hope it got more energy efficient too.

@cherie that energy rating is for the fridge only. If you add the freezer, it's another 593 kwh/yr, at the highest limit of similar models. For me it's not the cost of electricity as much as the environmental impact - I try as much as possible to keep everything at home energy efficient (including my car, which is hybrid). So I hope they will improve that on the new models. Otherwise I'll make up for the high energy use with other things at home :D

@larazb I'm curious of what brands you're looking at. I'm only aware of the Whirpool sidekicks that are 31" wide, 19 cu and in the same price point.

I love mine they are 13 yrs old not one issue the only thing is mine were true commercial so not too pretty inside Electrolux makes the same but the storage inside is much nicer than mine. I added an icemaker to mine but I don’t like water in the fridge so no water for me. I have never had good luck with Whirlpool appliances BTW

I have the towers but my fridge has the glass door. I fell in love with it when it was first announced. They wouldn’t fit side by side in my kitchen but still bought them both. Then a few months later we extended the kitchen wall out enough so that the pair fit side by side. Yes, we remodeled the kitchen for a fridge 😆. Unfortunately, Frigidaire has discontinued the glass door fridge 🙁

I love my pair, I would definitely recommend. The produce lasts fresh for a long time, it amazing how well tomatoes last. The air filtration is good too.

My local appliance store refuses to take orders. There is no firm availability date yet. They guessed February. But it was a guess.

I have them on pre order since August 1st on my new home and have a whole in my wall (now through one holiday and trending toward Christmas) unless they meet the new date of mid December. I talked to my appliance rep at the store in Dallas and she is stating Fridgidaire folks seem apathetic about the hold up so I wrote a nasty email that was forwarded. I paid in full for these over 4 months ago. They also pulled this in October and waited a couple days before the supposed "October" date and then it pushed forward to December. No way when they pushed it back two months they only figured that out days before. This time they promised they can meet it (pinky promise) but I have heard nothing and it is already a week in.

I've had this set on order since before March 2020. I've gotten 3 push back dates. The last date I was given would be April/May of 2021. As I understand it, Frigidaire has a contract with big box stores that they have to fulfill first. Then the independent dealers will get them. I was promised that my order will be fulfilled this April/May. Maybe a little sooner...

Does anyone know if this fridge can take custom panels?

I have these units. They are not built in at all and don't look built in. They look great and work well, but do not compare to a built in or integrated unit. I have them with Miele stainless and they work fine together.

We delayed shipment because it’s for our new house and it’s not ready for appliances yet. I hope to have it shipped in April though.

Anyone with these know if you can adjust how far the doors swing open? Only open 90 degrees instead of the full 130 for example.

We ordered these almost 10 months ago and finally had them delivered and installed today. Unfortunately, they are so noisy, my husband and I both feel sick. They are so loud I can hear them several rooms away. They sound like a spaceship! My brother in law has the older model and it's much quieter. He says he never hears it.

I'm wondering if others are having this issue? And if you've been able to do anything that helps.

Please reconsider when buying this fridge! We have had the older model for 16 months and just after the 1-yr manufacturer’s warranty ended, the refrigerator broke. After hours and multiple days on the phone with 5-year extended warranty company, New Leaf AKA Service Pro (1 hour 19 minutes on hold the last time I called), finally got repairperson to come out and look at it. Needs new parts due to leak in area that holds coolant—guy said it’s common problem. Also they will charge me $200 to uninstall column fridge to pull it out away from column freezer and wall and replace needed parts because warranty does not include that! So Then 2 more weeks of waiting until New Leaf approved work order (I made them do 3-way call while I was on phone with repair people). Now after all that, one part needed is not available ANYWHERE. I even researched online myself. (Heat Exchanger #297217900) is Out of stock all over and No Estimated time for availability. So we are at one month and now indefinitely without use of 15-MONTH-OLD fancy, $2K refrigerator. Nobody will replace it because it’s not officially “unrepairable”. So we are just stuck! Pretty but useless. Hours of time invested do far and nothing. Now what?!

I wanted to update my comment from a month ago where I said they sounded like a spaceship once installed and turned on. They did for about 48 hours. Then the noise level hasn't been an issue at all. I'm guessing they were both running constantly on highest level until both units cooled to the right temperature. Since then there's been no issue. We are very happy with them, granted we've only had them a short while.

Glad the new model is working well. Maybe I should’ve waited a bit to buy. Oh well.

Any updates on quality of this column refrigerator. one appliance store said stay away tons of problems. other appliance store said its fine.

I have had them for four years. No issues other than a drawer broke but I was able to order a new one myself from the website.

Purchased ours in 2017. It’s crap. Had a major repair/replacement on the condenser, $900 (summer 2021). Months later, went out again - lost everything in it - again. Called them back out and service said it was leaking freon but no idea where or how. Refilled. $300. Just went out again - summer 2022 - Lost everything in it. Searching now to find something that will fit the space we built especially for this size fridge. Not too pumped about giving frigidaire more money for another one that is likely to fail too, but redoing cabinets that are only 5 years old isn’t exciting either. Can’t buy fridge only as the new ones aren’t the same size so we’ll have to replace both fridge and freezer. Don’t buy these!

Wife and I are considering the newest model, these horror stories are definitely giving us hesitation but they look so good that we want to roll the dice 🤦‍♂️
