Just for clarification, in case anyone is reading who doesn’t know this tree, Box Elder is an Acer rather than a Sambucus. The common name is misleading.

Embo, only elderly Ashes lose their keys.

Old worn-out tree-guide books can lose their keys too.

if so.. it might be juicing the plant into lush growth.. rather than allowing it to wind down for winter ... when was the last lawn fert application?? .. and what formulation??? ... heavy nitro???

i also dont see the root flare ... and the overall growth looks a bit wonky from what little i see in these pix ... care to find the root flare??
