Lighting Living Room

Doubt regarding living room lighting

I dont have false ceiling in my living room. Can anyone pls suggest how can I make it look better. What kind of lights can be used near fan for sofa area to replace mere bulbs. Can I use pendant lights. Thanks in advance.
My ceiling looks like - bulb -----fan--------bulb.

Hi, I agree that it would be best if you have a picture so we can best advise you. If you replace the bulbs with pendants it may seem cluttered with the fan in the middle. Pendants are supposed to be a bit of a statement piece on their own or in a cluster of identical ones.

For example: The piece below is standing on its own as a statement piece.
