HELP! Beige, beige & more beige :(

I am having some serious problems trying to spice up my living room/kitchen/dining area in our home. It is all very "blah" and needs some life. Any suggestions on paint colors? I bought samples today and put them on the wall and it confused me even more. All I know is that I hate the beige. Should I paint everything a shade of white and do a feature wall? I would love some help.

My daughter just bought a house and painted it Thin Ice from Lowes. It's a very light bright gray with a very subtle hint of blue. Prior to painting, the house was all beige and I couldn't believe the difference this color has made. She has taken it from drab to FAB!

Also don't mind the mess :) It is usually organized but we just had the tv taken off the fireplace because we could never watch it being so high! We had it mounted on an arm in the corner so it can be in the corner and viewed from the sofa or tucked back flat on the wall. Any ideas for the cable box under the tv is appreciated also. Really any ideas at all for the space :)

Agree! U need to brighten it up with a nice bright gray then add in accent colors, maybe an accent wall of a lighter color on it darkest wall. Gray would look great and update the look.
