Help finish dining room please
I posted about this room last year, and it still isn’t finished! The only change so far is the 2 pieces of art on the walls from Pier One. My parents gave us this dining room set when they downsized. The chairs are staying (yes, I know they are outdated/ugly but to keep the family peace they will stay). The rug is staying.
Here is what I still need help with to bring the room into modern day:
1) Paint
2) chairs reupholstered
3) custom draperies
3) new chandelier maybe with some some bling? but not too formal.
4) new sideboard/buffet along the wall to replace the table. Should this match the rest of the furniture? Was thinking of getting something Amish made (custom) or from a local furniture store such as Ethan Allen or Arhaus. Max length would be around 60 in.
5) anything else for the walls? I feel like the china cabinet needs mirrors or art flanking it.
5) anyt

I think the furniture is great, very vintage. have you considered painting the tall cabinet in a color, i think lacquering it would be awesome. maybe navy.
i would paint the walls a warm white. a fun blue upholstery fabric for the seats that brings in a bit of the blue from the kitchen area would look great.
those three things plus a new more updated chandelier to me will help update the room and yet keep a vintage feel. heres what navy blue lacquer can look like. and a few ideas for a chandelier.
