Love the reading nook idea. Just can’t decide if it’ll be odd so close to the kitchen. But rlly great option

Storage, storage, storage. Get yourself a large armoire that fits that wall. Because of the proximity to the kitchen, dining and office, you’ll find it very handy as extra storage for any of those rooms. Also, it looks like a strange spot for a ceiling fan. Perhaps replace with a ceiling light.

Two or four occasional chairs, whatever fits the space, would be great for tea/coffee in the morning while reading or wine/cocktails in the evening.

Can't tell where your dining is but that looks like it was supposed to be a dining area. a banquette would be fun.

Can look secondhand for a rugged chair, or unique item you like looking at when taking a work break... ;)

Many parents do not like their child to surf the internet unmonitored.

Maybe a low bookcase under the window and a comfy loveseat for reading or napping along the other wall.

Try pulling rug out a bit from the chair? but in person does it look small? I can see that a rectangular or square rug might have a point into the hall .... how wide is your rug?

good idea. The chair may slide around without all 4 legs on it. Bigger rug, ✔ , good feedback.

the wall is still super empty, just trying to triage so its not terrible until I have time to paint, etc.

For now, try pulling rug out some from under chair. Pull chair out some and see if lamp/table will go behind chair.... like floor lamp. Move bookshelf where lamp is now. Try hanging cow picture or picture on bench over bookshelf. Move clock where cow picture is. Get dark blue pillow to go in chair and drape a coverup over chair. Might look for an ottoman/footstool to go with chair.

What do you need?????? First you should think about that ...do you need a fantastic Bar area for entertaining , do you need more storage , do you have large paintings or sculptures or books that need a place , a pantry ??? A children's or a luxurious dog house ....or a Green wall with a vegetable or herb garden ..or waterfall feature ..., here you can relax , or a massage chair ...have fun with this wonderful space ...and consider yourself lucky to have extra space

Shay, I've seen people plop down into a chair. Idk if that's you haha but you could try felt protectors so it won't slide. They say that placing blue tape, duct tape on floor in different rug sizes could help... or use newspapers to judge what works....

I am thinking beverage bar area / and or food pantry.
