The stuff you have chosen looks old fashioned early 20th century. I like it! Think what would an old Victorian backsplash be? White subways with gray grout. I think the space will be classically elegant and functionally tough as nails. I love black and gold together. Add black with accessories pieces like cast iron trivets

You are likely done with this project, but I came across this and thought I would add for any future readers that we just purchased the same countertops and are going to use plain Daltile Bright White Subway 3x6 with TEC grout in Sterling (light gray) per recommendation from a designer. We also have aged brass cabinet knobs from rejuvenation that are similar to yours, very worn pine flooring, etc. Our entire house looks old fashioned, and this backsplash matches the suggestion mentioned by the previous poster too.

lulutexas - I am using the exact same countertops and am just now selecting my backsplash, Were you happy with your choice of the Daltile Subway Tile with gray grout? Also, I see an "Artic White" subway tile (4404) and one just called "White" (4661) on Daltile's site, but not a "Bright White". Do you know which you used?

I'm sure you've finished the project, but I have to say that I liked the subtle real marble with the Calacutta Monaco. We recently installed Calacutta M as the countertops in our kitchen and I chose a real marble backsplash-actually in larger rectangles of Turkish marble. We get lots of compliments on the kitchen look and on the backsplash. For the cabinets we went with alder wood in a walnut finish. It looks classic. For the backsplash I went with a grout that was the same color as the tile as I did not want the backsplash to stand out or overpower the overall kitchen look--I wanted the focus to be on the cabinets, and the backsplash and cabinets to be subtle and make the overall kitchen look peaceful. Kwilliams007 we ended up going with Silestone Eternal Statuario countertop with polished Carrara marble backsplash.

@wickedstari have you been happy with the Eternal Statuario? we are debating between that one and the MSI Monaco. the Statuario looks beautiful in your kitchen but so plain in the sample. can you see the veining in it? Love your kitchen ❤️

For all of you with Monaco countertops.....I'm considering it but concerned that it's not white, but a more cloudy white. I love that it looks like marble but has this been an issue with white cabinets? I don't want my Monaco countertop to look dirty or off white next to cabinets.

@kasey_vejar Our cabinets are bright white (BM Chantilly Lace), and our walls and backsplash are also on the brighter side. I think that the Monaco keeps the kitchen from looking too stark. Because it is on the cool-white side, our white cabinets and backsplash make the countertops look very light gray. I think the dingy/dirty look with off-white quartz is more of a problem with warmer-white quartz. Let me know if any photos would be helpful!

@Jade these photos are so helpful! I commited to the monaco with bedrosian cloe white tile & had a minor freak out moment yesterday when i realized I'd never seen the whole slab. I sort of fell in love with the 12" sample I saw and went with it. Do you find the veins to be as pronounced in person as in photos?

@Monica S The veins were actually my biggest hang-up when we selected the Monaco. They are fairly pronounced if you are focused on them, or if you are very close to the countertop. But I still think they look natural because of the detail and coloring.

I ended up going with real marble but otherwise I would have gotten Monaco. I think it's beautiful. the veining and off white base provide some variation and interest in otherwise all-white kitchens

I use the same material for both counters and backsplash (up to the upper cabinets)….it matches.
Mixing real and manufactured materials will almost always result in clashing.

Josephine, can I ask which real marble you went with? I keep going back and forth from real marble to the quartz Calacatta Monaco. Are you happy with your choice?

Real marble as kitchen counters will stain easily.

Does Monaco go with BM white dove cabinets and BM hale navy cabinets?

I will have a seam in quartz countertop as cabinets are on an angle and then straight. How difficult it is to match seam in Calcutta Monaco? My other choice is MSI Statuary Classique.

@monica s - can you post a pic of your Calacutta Monaco counters with the Bedrosians Cloe tile? That’s what I picked for my bathroom but I’m having a hard time visualizing it all together.

This thread is so helpful! I can't find a whole slab of Calcatta Monaco near me to view. I did order a small sample from their website. Does anyone have any new or additional photos of Calacatta Monaco? If you have backsplash ideas included in the photo that would be great. Is there any warm tones at all in this style? Does the background read white?

Trying to decide between this and miraggio. I’m worried that might be too white and monaco might be too gray. Cabs are white. Looking for subtle and classic. I love all of these photos. You all have beautiful kitchens! Would you say monaco is white or gray?

We ended up pairing Calacatta Monaco with Calacata Evora honed marble tile. The warmer hue of the Evora marble goes well with the warm undertone of Calacatta Monaco.

My counters and backsplash are actually Calcutta Altro . Very similar just less busy and a little lighter in color.

@Cynthia Verhave - Our kitchen backsplash tile is Daltile Artigiano (I think the color was Italian Apls).
