We are placing a wide 10ft high porcelain slab mantle for fireplace/tv in family room on one of the Walls. The mantel will take up half the wall. Is it okay for this wall to be without crown moulding while The other 3 walls and the rest of an open concept house have the moulding?

We don’t like the look of the moulding against the porcelain. Not sure if we are going against crown moulding best practices.
