What to do with cherry cabinets?

My cherry kitchen cabinets are showing wear. I do love the cherry, but my open concept condo has little natural light, so I am thinking of changing the cabinets to a light color, possibly professionally painted or refaced. If I paint, what color? Adjacent walls are SW Navajo white and SW Antique White. Floor is light wood. Counters are granite in black and greys with an undertone that seems to blend well with the cherry and also strangely almost matches the stainless appliances that have black trim. I do have an accent wall in SW Bracing blue but that can be changed. No backsplash, wall is the Navajo white. I'm not sure of the trim white color, it was already painted when I moved in and I left that as is. Could be SW Dover white since there was some of that left behind. My thoughts: I want something light to brighten up the space (3 winds bay in kitchen at one end, glass slider in living room at opposite end, that's it for natural). Either have cabinets painted (better for budget) or look at replacing with light wood tone (suggestions?). Also (sorry), ceiling is currently SW Crisp linen, but needs repainting and I know, it should be a white... what color??? -- Would prefer to keep cost down, but willing to price out and consider options for all this. Appreciate suggestions. See photos in comment below. Could not add them here.

Posting a picture of your kitchen would help!

Thanks. I will try again, it didn't work first try.

Here are photos of my kitchen. Had trouble adding to above.

The counters are more problematic with being dark than your gorgeous cabinets. You need better lighting. I wouldn’t paint those! Added lighting, light counters, new backsplash, and a lighter wall color, and it will feel like a whole new space.

Nice ideas to consider. Cupboards under the sink and some drawers have very worn finish. Can they be refinished and match the rest? Have not investigated where to go to have that done. What kind of professionals can do that well? Thanks.

Counters are a bit dated and not the best match for that warm wood, but your cabs are 100% on trend and gorgeous. Can we see an up-close of damage? Touch up with a finish pen — or, worst case, Howard’s Restore-A-Finish — might be all that’s needed. It doesn’t look as if you have any tiled backsplash, just drywall? Not sure. I would update counters to something lighter — quartz or maybe granite — and tile with something reflective. Brighten paint. Update lighting. Cabinets look rich and gorgeous, IMHO, Good luck,

Yes, damage is limited to just a few areas, worst being doors and such under sink area. No backsplash just wall painted the Navajo white. Would consider backsplash and replacing counter instead of cupboard redo. Do you think change blue accent wall to the navajo white?

Since the cabinets obviously need to be refinished anyway, personally I would have them painted - but then, I am not a fan of the existing color. I would go with a light blue, green, or maybe grey - something that works with your countertops (unless you choose to replace those). Change the hardware and add a tile backsplash (something simple and light so it doesn't fight with your granite), and paint walls/ceiling.

Another great option! Appreciate these ideas. Much to think about.
