NO. The Flooring Uniformity police will sweep in and confiscate your house and hold your cat as a prisoner until you recant.

(I use three different widths within the same floor so I'm definitely not a stickler for absolute uniformity. You can't even see the floors at the same time. No one is going to be going around with a ruler to check.)

Haha - thanks for your input! I didn't think it really made much of a difference but was looking for some opiiniions.

Very often the upstairs in homes had different cheaper flooring that the main floor the only thing I do like is the stairs the same as the main floor .

Folks who have a thing about uniformity in flooring must just go batty in a place like Buckingham palace, where every room has a (often dramatically) different floor.

I've never lived in a house new enough to have all the floors the same; seems boring and like a lost opportunity to me. .

I would do it in a heartbeat.

Just an FYI about plank width I was told by my hardwood flooring installer: the wider the plank, the better the chances of gaps forming during seasonal changes.
