Mirror the ceiling? Then people can see themselves being worked on.

I once painted a ceiling in a dark room a soft gold leaf metallic. Pretty nice.

hmmmm seems like you would want light to work by. Perhaps you can get the vibe you seek another way? Dark walls will suck all the light out of your space.

Maybe paint the ceiling black and the walls metallic gold or deep red or paint the walls in wide stripes of moody colors. You could more easily do some cool effects on the walls with black on colors than you can if they're all black - like painting gothic-style archways and so on. Are there windows for light to come in?

Hi, Dana ... how tall are the ceilings? What size is the shop? Is it a shopping center storefront, i e, windows in the front only? What is the flooring?

It’ll help with suggestions to know these things. :)

Without knowing more, my first thought was doing a tin ceiling:

Black ceiling if you want the space to be more cohesive and fixtures stand out:

White or other lighter color if you want the ceiling to recede:

.

Really, there are so many directions you could go.

The light fixtures sound so cool! I want to see them. 😁

There are indeed many ways you could go about this. I love the idea of a tin ceiling! As stated above, though, we really need more details about the space you're working with in order to better help with suggestions.

I was inked at Mo Coppoletta's shop, The Family Business Tattoo Parlour in Exmouth Market, London. I loved their cool, gothic vibe.
