Ethan Allen vs Restoration Hardware

I know there have been good and bad reviews for both. But if you had to choose furniture for a Master Bedroom which would you get? I am considering the Maison collection at RH and the Julien Chest and Glover dresser from Ethan Allen. Both in gray finishes. Which would be better quality and style? Is restoration Hardware more for the younger generation?

@zthar I was thinking about doing shark fin on the dresser and pumice on the Julien Chest. Or the other way around. Glad to know that you like it. Are you using it as a nightstand?

Most of my furniture is Ethan Allen. Has held up beautifully, some pieces are over 40 yrs old and fit and finish is still near perfect. For me , hands down Ethan Allen.

No, I am using it in my guest bedroom.

Does anyone have any experience with the Glover Dresser from Ethan Allen? I was surprised that it did not have soft close drawers. But seems made really well. RH is not soft close either.

I know this post is old but I have a post about Ethan Allen furniture. Ethan Allen is not cheap, but my mom told me it was quality. I don’t have a lot of furniture but it all from Ethan Allen. Here’s a picture of my armoire. It has been through 5 moves including 500miles from Northern California to San Diego and back due to a work transfer,. I bought it in 2006. Barely a scratch, all of the hinges and handles are solid. No soft close hinges and drawers, but I am not sure that would be necessary on a dresser. You don’t use it in the same manner as kitchen cabinets. I just sold an Ethan Allen custom sectional in 2009 and an iron frame bed frame in 2006 solely because I wanted to change furniture styles.

I agree that Ethan Allen furniture holds up well. We have a corner desk with bureaus on either side, and a double set of shelves above one side, that has survived for 40 years and all are still in perfect condition…. (Though now on their third set of drawer pull hardware to update!) And despite sharing the bedroom with our son for 20 years. But ours is 40 years old…. Does their new furniture hold up as well? Nothing seems to be as well made as it used to be….
