I know it’s not what you asked, but please learn from my mistake. I once bought a set of square dishes cause I thought they looked cool. This was about 15-17 years ago so I would not say that square dishes are trendy, they are more just different than most other dishes so they have that appeal.

I ended up hating them. I recommend you return them if you still can.

Difficult to store as you mentioned. A huge PITA to load in the dishwasher. My dishwasher had curtailed capacity due to the square shape of the dishes. They also fit awkwardly on our breakfast table, though they fit fine on our large dining table, except it’s the breakfast table where we eat mostly. And then if you have soup bowls that is an awkward fit. And salad bowls too, how to fit those with the square dinner bowls without having to be forced to clear them before setting out the dinner plates.

I know I am going on too long about this. I guess I was traumatized by this expensive purchase of square dinnerware. And then I tried to sell them on Craig’s List but no one wanted them. Then a local charity didn’t want them either. I finally gave them away for free. I now have round dinnerware with rims.

The ones I had in the 80's seemed to chip in the dishwasher easier than others. Never again! They didn't sell in a consignment shop, either.

Oh my goodness! I am so surprised at the problems with square. I bought a china set which we use for everyday that has square dinner plate, square salad plate and round dessert plate. I love them all. I have had no problems at all with them in either the dishwasher or the table. I am not sure about a wall rack for display, but for in cabinet display, I am sure you can find the small easels that will hold them.

I have both square and round dishes (all whiteware) and, um, no trauma. Also, no problem loading in my DW. Are you wanting to store them sideways? Or more display? I store mine sideways in wood stands that I got at The Container Store a few years ago.

Thanks for the ideas folks. I did mean storing them on the wall or something. I only plan to use them for special occasions and got enough for 12 settings. I have other dishes for our everyday life (there's only two of us). I'll figure it out I guess. Maybe displaying them is not the way to go and some quilted storage in the basement is it.
