living room design help!

I am so confused on what to do in this room. The beauty are the black windows and I love a cozy feel! I am scared what I have so far completely clashes and I thought a beach wood coffee table and end tables with lamps with pillows that are cream and light blue...but I feel like I need to add in black accents but. Then that clashes with the look of the living room...mainly I don’t know if I’m on the right track and usually I can visualize but I can’t at all right now! Any help would be awesome! Let me know ...I may over thinking it too

Soooo pretty. Your off to An Amazing start. Add a pretty coffee table with some black and white decor books. And maybe a small vase of hot pink flowers or something with color. Add pillows to he couches... maybe a black floor lamp and fill those shelves with pretty accents. Put frames. And pictures. Books. Candles. Diffusers. Ornaments. Just random pretty things you find. And a light fixture in place of the fan maybe. Really pretty space!! Love love love what you’ve done so far

I would let the doors stand alone. No black accents. Remove the mirrors and move the TV to the spot designed for it on the left. Put some art work above the FP and continue with your soft color palette

Does the rug clash with the furniture? And trying to think of what hues to do. Ideally in bright space like this- I was like oh I should have done a white couch and not this oatmeal color or done like a green couch but just not crazy about white couches for practical reasons and buying green (soft or forest green) seemed bold so hoping the neutral tone fits the house...

It’s a beautiful room and I like the furniture and rug. Definitely move the tv off the mantel and set it in the spot to the left. Get a calm and serene painting for the mantel.

Don't clutter the room with little doodads. Maybe a green plant or two. That little side table I can see looks temporary and doesn’t seem to fit the handsome furniture you have.

Maureen- you are so helpful!!!! Thank you!!! Should I change my rug then bc the one depicted looks gorgeous with a patterned look

A white patterned rug is attractive and modern, but consider if it’s practical for your family in a highly used room. Your rug is nice, has warmth and is an easy backdrop for accessorizing. When room is done, you can always change then.

So awesome! Will use all your recs and see how it turns out! Your additions make sense and hope I can do this beautiful room justice. I was worried also bc the couch and chairs are diff shades but I feel like with pillows and coffee table- it’s not a big deal

It’s more interesting when couch and chairs are different. Try looking at lots of inspiration pictures, save them and after a bit, you’ll start to see a look you love and how the room was pulled together. Take your time,

Thought these ideas would help you with envisioning pattern with cushions

Here is a rug that has less white, cotton and wool blend and comes is lots of sizes, at a good price. Consider limitations in your other choices. Think about entire room again. Good luck.

Gah thanks- I have been so stuck but I’m starting to see more iron/rust and earth tones...possibly change the rug! Thank you for these suggestions! They are so insanely helpful!

    Maureen's ideas are great!

Like so many on here who give great visuals, it makes the process of what they are trying to communicate so much easier to do. Seeing those inspirational pictures makes it so much easier to visualize in your own room.

I am a big fan of Maureen.

I‘m better with visuals vs details😀. Thank you @njmomma

Rashi, wish it were my room! Happy to help and good luck. A fun adventure.

Maureen, your "eye" is amazing! I don't want to hijack this thread, but I just followed you, and would like to ask you a question. Thanks!

For sure! Wondering if Rashi minds. If it‘s very detailed, wondering if you created your own posting and I could watch for it.

Thank you Maureen! Apologies to Rashi (your home is beautiful!!)

I posted it about 2 weeks ago, but no responses so far. 😟

Hi , I saw this a short while ago ...noticing the ' table and cushion/throw colours with the photographic artwork and white frames .I'm not sure how relevant this is to you but thank you so much for sharing ....I'm learning a lot ... Your home looks fabulous :) https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/173177548156951402/

No worries at all! Ask anything!

I’m wondering for side tables to go for wood, iron and hints of grey-blue...I love the accent chair and table shown here. I think I’m going to try to change rug and compare and see what I like. I love the built ins so want to bring more white into the picture so perhaps via the rug

Haven't read all of the replies but are you committed to the mirrors flanking the fireplace? I would replace with tall vases.

Oh yes I love the vases and I LOVE the rug you chose! It’s gorgeous

And now I’m taking off the mirrors! Pillow ideas? I like Maureen’s comments and think earthy tons and blues and whites would look pretty

er612- love what you did with the shelves!! I’m going to copy!

@er612- the damali black and white rug from ruggable

Beautiful room! I like the idea of a fabulous piece of art for over your mantel and moving the TV. @Maureen if you see this I really like both of those white and black pillows. Can you tell me where they’re from?

I used the Crate and Barrel tool to preview their rugs in your space. Unfortunately, the only tools that I personally possess are cut and paste so this is the best I could do. Hope it helps.

Hi Maureen- any idea where this coffee table is from?. We love the coffee tables with iron legs and depth!
