POLL: Are 4" Back Splashes (Counter Material) Outdated?

Hello,

We're in the decision phase of picking out a quartz kitchen countertop material (currently leaning toward Silestone Staturaio or Cambria Torquay). Of course we'll need to know whether the counter should come with the typical 4" backsplash of the same material.

In looking through recent kitchen design photos, we don't see very many kitchens with that 4" backsplash (regardless of style). It looks like this may be an outdated trend, even if there is another complementary backsplash material above that 4" (?) Most kitchens we see have the complementary wall backsplash material (or paint) going all the way down to countertop height.

So we put together this quick poll, and would love your input! Thanks much.

Some do have backsplash of same counter material but all the way top cabinet, not 4”. What is dated is adding a different backsplash above the 4” backsplash that is same as countertops.

Putting tile above a 4” backsplash of countertop material is dated and not a good look at all. A 4” backsplash is fine if that is your only backsplash and you simply paint the wall above it.

Nope this is dated

When laminate all way up the wall we pulling it off right now. It depends on how old your house and how you designing your home. I have 3 inch for my butcher block and i tiled up it too. Really up to you if your living there since paying 30 year morgage then do what you want to do. Trends go but functionality stays forever. Who wants to clean tile up to the ceiling..
