Solid stain on deck

Help! I just had my 30 year old deck restained. The painters recommended solid stain on an old deck so that’s what I went with. They did an excellent job cleaning and sanding down the deck before staining. However, I can’t get over how brownish red it looks, and how it doesn’t blend into the environment like it used to. I read that once you do solid stain, there’s no going back to a transparent stain. So I’m wondering, can I put another solid stain in a different color on top without sanding off the current solid stain? I’m hoping I don’t need to sand it since it’s a fresh stain and the painters did a good job prepping the deck so the stain should be bonded pretty well. Any advice?
