Caesarstone “patina”?

Have had Caesarstone Noble Gray for about a year, love the look. A few months ago it started developing rings and blotchy areas. Typically a ring from a glass or plate, when you clean it with dish soap and water or quartz cleaner the ring will expand or the whole area will get blotchy. I have carefully tried Soft Scrub gel and a tiny bit of Barkeepers Friend, didn’t work. Will carefully try acetone which Joseph Corlett has recommended in other threads. You can scrape off some little trails with a fingernail so it is some sort of residue I think. Anyhow, in Caesarstone’s Care Guide (you can google “Caesarstone patina Care Guide”) they now say a patina can develop after about 6 months which is a result of normal wear and cleaning, it is not a defect or stain, and “can be” esthetically pleasing. WTH? If I wanted patina I would have got marble. I am sure this was not in their Care Guide when I bought my countertops. Aren they trying to evade responsibilty for defects? Why would this develop after 6 months - does some coating wear off? Have emailed the company with no response. Annoyed cuz I got Caesarstone based on its excellent rep but I guess the company was sold about 2 yrs ago and thing have gone downhill? Would appreciate any insight/advice. Thanks 😀

Thanks, I will buy some Dawn today and give it a go- have been using Weimar Quartz Cleaner and random dish soaps, probably some from the “natural” aisle, and a microfiber dish cloth, so maybe the soaps are contributing and also I will start using a clean cloth or paper towel and not the wet dish cloth. But not sure where the rings come from to start with - we have the same water we have always had, it is filtered outside the house. I feel like the countertop itself is suddenly so much harder to keep clean.

JuneKnow, thanks, that is helpful. I will be a Dawn girl from now on. All the care instructions for quartz say to wash with “soap and water” so I wish they would be more specific. Still curious about the “patina” thing though...

Well I tried the Dawn and it may have made a slight difference, I was afraid to rub too hard as supposedly that can dull the stone ha ha. I tried a bit of acetone on a cotton ball, no effect. Washed and rinsed thoroughly. I vaguely remember having a similar cloudy mark about 6 months ago that sort of faded away by itself after a couple months. I feel like the dryer the stone is the easier it is to make little tracks in it with my nails. So weird. BUT WAIt Joseph Corlett what is this??? A miracle cure? No Amazon reviews but I am totally ready to one-click! So do you agree it’s probably soap residue and this stuff will help? Thank you both, I really appreciate your expertise.

I see it has been four years since you posted this, but I’m curious if you ever found a solution to cleaning this “patina”? We moved into a new home about a month ago, so our countertops are brand new, but we’re having the same issue. They are also Caesarstone countertops. Did you find a cleaning solution that worked well??
