how do we dress this up?

5 years ago

Chose black windows, with white vinyl siding. LP siding and trim would have looked much nicer, but wasn’t in the budget. I’m disappointed with how plain the windows look next to the vinyl siding. Any way to dress this up? There will be a metal roof on the portico below it so if we change anything I’d like to have it done before tut is installed since you cannot stand on it.

    I like the black garage doors with the white siding. I think the windows look wrong, not because of the color, but because of the size and spacing. And because of the J-channel and no trim. I'm not sure how to fix that easily.

    What was there before?

    There is trim- is just the cheap vinyl j-channel trim which has no effect.

    The not reason it concerns me, well not concern lol! But... is because it’s the front of the house. You can beef up the trim but there’s not a lot a room between each window. Do you want to add a window on each side of the three you have. Will that be too much? I was initially thinking just keep it and add some lights up there and maybe planters to the window sills. But it’s a hard spot to get to. Maybe fake flowers? Vines? Hard to tell the style of the house also. So if this is MCM , well uh that wouldn’t work. I’m thinking it’s farmy casual , chill vibes. And that’s why I suggested the above. What do you think?

    What is MCM? And yes- modern industrial farm if that’s a thing! 😂 I agree- maybe dressing it up with lights or planters would work! I need to take a pic of the front at night, but here is a side view to give you an idea of style. I love the way it looks at night with the light shining through the 3 windows I originally posted, but during the day they look washed out and Boring.

    MCM = mid century modern
    Glad you like the suggestions. I think it looks great but’ll look awesome!!! So soon

    You need white curtains behind those windows. When looking at pictures of houses with black windows, they either have the lights turned on or white curtains to make the grid pop out. Otherwise, it's hard to avoid the black hole look.
