For fun - what wildlife have you seen at your building site?

I'll go first. We've had a black bear walk through our garage and discovered a resident bald eagle. We are in central NY.

Bear, moose, fox, raccoons, porcupine (ask the dog about that!), but my favorite was the western blue bird perched on the lot sign the first time we visited after closing. Colorado Rockies.

Just last week we saw a hawk eating a squirrel on the fence post. We used to see pheasants and foxes, but no more. Mostly bunnies and birds. Oh gosh, can't forget the deer!!! Eastern Long Island, New York.

I’ve also seen a bald eagle, tons of various birds and a bear cub down the road

There adpre actually three deer hiding in the undergrowth but only one is visible in the lower left. We are in Chicago metro area and there is a 100 acre park across the road behind me.

We have a pair of bald eagles who live across the pond. We love watching them dive for fish! We have seen black snakes and rattle snakes. My girls are only 8 but they have an appreciation and respect for all animals. Then there's an abundance of deer, raccoons, possums, skunks, turtles, etc. We love the diversity of wildlife!

We are building in an older neighborhood in town. Small lot surrounded by other homes. Before we cut down a large hedge of hemlock, we were onsite with our contractors walking the property line. All of the sudden two fawn ran out of the hemlock, ran around in a circle playing, then took one look at us and darted back inside. :) So cute!!!

We did not see a mother, but several weeks later as we were touring the foundation, a large buck crossed the lot and went around the backside of our neighbors home. There is a bit of wooded area behind that house. Another neighbor has reported being knock down by a deer when she was working around her pool.

I wish I had a video or photo to show, but because it happened so fast, no time to think about getting one. This is almost exactly what we saw. Only they were tiny little things!

dozens of different birds, geese, deer, turkey, rabbit, sandhill cranes, racoon, skunk... when I cut the grass I like to play the "whose poop is this" game

    LOL

Our lot was the last (for many, many years) available lot in our neighborhood. It was used for all neighborhood dogs. The soil must be very fertile. :) We have teased the neighbors and said that we will set up a sand box on the corner and will include a payment box. :)

On the 3 acre lot that our abandoned 200 year old ongoing restoration sits upon in Maine, lynx and eagles. Putting up trail cams soon to get pics!

No deer, bear or bald eagles here in desert southwest but found this cutie yesterday sleeping on the spray foam insulation.

And a while ago had to share workspace with this character.

My step mom lives so far out by herself and loves it but.... scares me sometimes. She is 75 and shoots the wild pigs that are taring up her pasture with her .30-30. She’s was brought up Arkansas with hillbilly tough brothers, hopefully not offending here, just sayin :). She took a picture of this coming up to her back porch, she only shoots the wild hogs, fyi for us animal lovers, lol

Tons of deer, coyotes, hawks and falcons, a turkey family (we names Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa...)

Yesterday - was working on a conf call and looking out master bath window to 2 does grazing, they perked up and took off and then behind them came 2 bucks, one with a decent sized rack! This summer, I mistakenly disturbed a fawn - almost walked right into it - so cute!

We’ve had foxes, raccoons, lots of hawks, deer and the usual squirrels and rabbits. There was a bear in our neighborhood last year. And we are really not in bear country or so I thought. Planning to fence in backyard with 4 ft high black aluminum fencing (Only fencing HOA allows) Should we take it to 5 ft or does height really not deter the big critters? I’m a bit concerned over the bigger animals.

    A moose!

The bears make me nervous! We’ve seen up to 50 deer at a time. And those crazy (pet) turkeys follow the boys everywhere, even into the house!

When we built in Florida-rattlesnake, coral snake, water moccasin, golden eagle, bald eagle, egrets, sand hill cranes, neighbors’ horses, pair of bobcats (male walked up to our French doors and stared), cardinals, robins one day each year on their way north, night hawk, great horned owl, and a very rare gopher tortoise. Oh, and an escaped emu.

Wow, so many animals! So far we have only seen birds, deer tracks, and our excavator's helper found these two adorable baby squirrels, which we took to a wildlife rehabilitator for care.

I see no one is confessing to being a wild client.

When we were building a bird made a nest in the rocks. The kids enjoyed seeing the little birds hatch. We see a lot of deer, coyotes, hawks and little owls.

Once I saw some very rare creatures- a construction crew. They haven’t been seen since February but rumor has it they will come out of hibernation this week for framing.

@ILoveRed yes I believe so. I grew up in Nebraska and we always called them sandpipers but I’m in Missouri now so not as much sand lol!
