Stackable Kitchen Uppers with Builder

Hi - I have a new built and the kitchen is 10 ft ceiling. The kitchen cabinets does not go all the way up to the ceiling. If I want the look of cabinets that goes all the way up builder said it will be a builder upgrade on stackable upppers, plus furring panel and ceiling crown. The cost quoted for approximately 60" of that would be almost $10k which is really expensive for such a small are. Is it worth getting them from the builder? Is it hard to match the color and style if you get it done after move in outside? Will it be a lot cheaper? Thank you.

For $10,000 extra I’d consider getting a quote from another cab company and ask them how much to extend and install all of your uppers, and ask your current person if they can leave the uppers but not install them.

Unless your uppers are already installed? Which makes price a little more understandable, as I imagine it’s easier to install from the top down and not install on top of what is already there.

Tract/Developer type home you will pay more for them to not install the upper's if that is even an option as that again is a "change order". Plus you may need to have them installed for the CO. I would be sure you know the brand and the particulars of your cabinets. Yes it is easier to do it before hand but remember change orders are upgrades are how this type of builder makes the bulk of his profits.
