First, it worth mentioning that grout is not a waterproofer. I use Hydrobarrier by Laticrete behind all of my shower tiles, installed on concrete backer boards.

As to grout, these tiles came canted, and they have a joint that allows for traditional grout. These definitely require a greater degree of craftsmanship to grout correctly, but they are fully grouted.
