we like to do puzzles and in the past I usually bought Ravensburger. When COVID arrived, I could not find any Ravensburger puzzles in stock that I wanted so I bought a couple from Springbok and was happy with them. They were similar in quality.

Our family loves doing puzzles and have been doing them non-stop since COVID. We have White Mountain and Buffalo Games mostly but have also done Springbok and Dowdle. I look forward to hearing from others on their favorites. Puzzles are a great family gift.

I would order a custom puzzle of a family memory or group picture...my mom loves the one made of her grand children's school pictures.

I bought several White Mountain puzzles last year and they were certainly of acceptable quality. The pieces weren't flimsy and no pieces were missing.

I've become an addict. My top recc is Eeboo. Three reasons: quality of the puzzle, interesting designs, and a good mix of difficulty. Close second is Galison.

IMHO A lot of puzzle designs are tacky or old fashioned. I like something pretty to look at!

Eeboo puzzles are my favorites by far! I just ordered this one as my next puzzle.

I'm a fan of the European cartoon ones, and I love the WASGIJ puzzles. Puzzle Warehouse is a great source. Just finished this one.

Wow! Great response-many of you enjoy puzzles and such a great way to while away our time while cooped up in 2020. Thanks so much for the recommendations; that gives me many more choices.

Arcy: What company have you used for the custom puzzles? I probably won't get that done for Christmas, but it does sound like a neat idea.

Springbok's my fave. I have a number of their vintage ones. The pieces fit tightly and are unique shapes and the graphics on the vintage ones are fun and challenging.

Ravensburger is 2nd runner-up, IMO. They're very well made too.

FWIW, Springbok puzzles were from Hallmark stores.

My GF's family loves Wysocki puzzles...I've been intrigued with puzzles that have a mystery to them and solving the puzzle gives you clues to solving the mystery in the accompanying story. I too tend to select based on the image as I'll be looking at it a long time. But most of the brands mentioned before are fine puzzles...ravensburger, springbok...I look for 100% interlocking as I don't like puzzle pieces that just rest on each other and need other pieces to lock them in place.

Years ago as an illustrator I did a puzzle for Ravensburger (through my agent so I had no contact with the actual company) and the president of the company called me to tell me how much he loved it. Just a little puzzle, I think it was a thousand piece medieval mystery garden, also many, years ago.

I wasn't into puzzles then so I had no appreciation but now I'd love to do another one.

Annie, thanks for another recommendation. I didn't know there were jigsaw puzzles that didn't interlock and I also wasn't aware some have mysteries. I'm learning much more than which brands are the best!

Bumblebeez: That's really interesting. Do you still do illustrations and will you pursue that desire to do another?

Liz, I don't illustrate anymore but I did for about 30 years. Life evolved and it was extremely time-consuming, stressful and involved an enormous amount of sitting.
