need opinion on floor tile and wall paper

I will be renovating my powder room. It is a 4’x5’ space. I purchased Cole & Son Fornasetti II. I have hexagonal tile samples that I am trying to choose from. After looking at all the tiles I am moving towards black tiles. I was going to paint the ceiling the color of that red looking fish (where the black tile is) at the top in the wallpaper in gloss. I thinking of having ice blue grout or may stick with charcoal grout. I don’t want to go safe, but interesting. Should I go this route in design?

    Not a Pro.

If you are doing a black floor, I would do black wallpaper.

    Some inspiration:

Is the wallpaper going floor to ceiling? Have you chosen a vanity. I like the inspiration photos because of how the background of the wallpaper ties into the floor tile. Maybe you can follow the same idea and go lighter for your tile instead of black.

I’d go with one of these two if you’re painting the ceiling red. I don’t think it’s playing it safe at all... when you consider it all together

Thanks everyone. I have the wallpaper already. I don’t really want to get the light blue tiles ( to match the main color in wallpaper) I was trying to pick a color out from one of the fish. The black looked good to me, but not 100% sure

Sound like this is the wallpaper you are going with and black tile for the floor. Have you considered a black vanity?

Msteezzy I have a white pedestal sink. The wallpaper will go on all the walls. Now that you pointed out the grey. This will be considered

Love the wallpaper. I just looked up various rooms with it and nearly every one I saw had a lighter and more neutral color floor. It really lets the wallpaper be the focal point, as it should be. I didn’t see any with darker floors to compare, though.

Anyway, my preference would be a light neutral floor. Tan, cream, beige.

I've always loved this paper. And I say go with the black tile. I think the black will make it more dramatic and gorgeous. That's what I'd do anyways. Go with your gut.

I, too, have always favored this wallpaper. I think it stands on it's own without needing to think outside of the box and in return making the room busy. Keep the rest of room neutral, light colors, as others have suggested and it will make the statement you want. And you can always add color with towels and a rug.

I love this wall! You probably can’t go wrong with the black tile floor but I love the taupe tile with this color way paper! I would paint the ceiling a soft aqua to mimic the papers background for a softer overall look and let the wallpaper be the star of the show!

With a wall paper like that it is not necessary to make a statement anywhere else..mostly it will detract rather than add to the whimsy and uniqueness of the paper

black is neutral and I think any other color floor is going to detract from the paper...except for maybe a white-ish floor.

I like the grey tiles for the floor. A gloss light blue on the ceiling. Towels in white or some of the accent colors from fish. What is the lighting? Looking forward to seeing the final result!

I think a black floor and a red ceiling with this wall paper in a 5x4 space would be too much for me. I would not be able to stay more than a minute in the room. I think the black floor but the ceiling in white would be nice.

Looks great! Can you tell me the company that makes the wallpaper? I’m soooo tempted

Do you plan on adding any more black accents?...to tie in the floor?..perhaps a whimsical round mirror with a black frame?even adding a couple smaller ones ...like bubbles?...a black light fixture would be nice?

    That is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations!

Bathroom will be done today. An existing tilted chrome mirror will be hung.
I purchased the wallpaper from Wallpaper Direct ( online order). I took a quick picture of the door that has black door molding around door. I will not any additional black. I will pull a color from a fish to add a towel to dry hands.
