Bathroom dilemma

last modified: 5 years ago

I am renovating a small bathroom in my bedroom. I have the vanity and plan to install granite top to create a bangel top if I find a sink because I only have 15" depth. I want to install 12x24 tiles around the bathroom. Should I do shower ceiling as well? Also installing a pocket door.I don't know what to do with wall behind sink and toilet. Should I put a wide medicine cabinet to take up wall. Or like I have it now.Sorry this is all confusing.

have no idea what you're talking about because there are no pictures.

also have no idea what a 'bangel' top is.

I posted the pics not sure what why submit the first. I am renovating a small bathroom in my bedroom. I have the vanity and plan to install granite top to create a bangle top which extends from sink to create a shelf all one piece. if I find a sink because I only have 15" depth.

I still have no idea of the size of the space and what you are planning. Sp post a to scale floor plan showing doorway, window plumbing and give us an idea of your style. BTW banjo counters are a bit tricky because it depends on the toilet if it is low enought to extend the counter and still be able to access the toilet tank if needed so my thought forget that plan. You will need to get some electrical work done for sure . Does all that stuff need to be stored in the bathroom? How many people use this space ? IMO no need to tile the ceiling in the shower but I see what seems to be mould up at the ceiling which says you need much better ventilation too.

    What is a bangle top?

bangel=bangle=banjo. It's a counter that extends across the top of a toilet, in a sort of "banjo" shape.

Is it possible to do a shallow vanity like these? this way you get some storage. If you want more, do open shelving over the toilet, not the banjo countertop.

    18X28

Ya know, if you installed a pocket door, you'd have all that extra space behind the door. (you could do storage under your window)

why don't you see if you can do a pocket door?

I am installing a pocket door. And planning on changing top of this sink pictured. But not sure if I should put a long medicine cabinet above sink and toilet or just one over each

do a medicine cabinet over the sink, do some shelving over the toilet, or get one of these cabinets, better one than what you have

since you're doing a pocket door, you'll have room under your window for storage, yes?

you could put in a bench w/storage, or do something like this

maybe you have room to inset some shelving somewhere? maybe under the window or next to the window? or anywhere else you have some vertical wall space?

over the toilet? could you inset anything like this?

Thank you. I can do something over the toilet but the opposite wall is an outside wall and they do not want to do a recess cabinet because of insulation.

then can you just fit something under the window like my first few pics show? (above? the bench, or the shelf unit)

    or something like this

just anything that fits under the window, but still allows access to move. storage cubbies for towels or baskets like they show here^

these might fit under the window. they aren't that deep either.

inset the space over the toilet all the way up to the ceiling for something like this

or one of these if there is room next to it.

another idea is to run something like this wood shelf from the wall on the left, all the way over across the toilet.

or, use every inch of space for extra storage

    here's your banjo option

think about doing your shower like this. no glass door. you could do a fixed panel on top of this pony wall

do something like this. shelves over toilet, a small pony wall, fix glass panel, and a door, or no door.

If you built your shower like this, no curb, only one fixed panel and no door, it would make the room appear a bit larger. plus, with no door to swing in or out, the shower is easier to access.

I think any of these tiles w/your white tiles would look great in your bathroom

here's another banjo design. you could do a full length shallow cabinet w/this one. get a low toilet.

Thank you so much11. I do like the pony wall. I love the open shelves but I usually have a mess so closed cabinets will be better for me. The long shelf is great.
