Our family was vacationing at a North Carolina beach one late summer and saw Owaris on sale at their local Lowes Hardware for $15. Just could not pass it up!

I bought the owari satsuma from Phoenix this year too but have procrastinated in repotting and just left it in the original container. It's actually put out new growths, even some flowers but they all dropped. The plant itself looks healthy though. I'll have to repot it comes spring. What did you use to repot?

As far as soil? I use miracle grow bags (yellow) for any of my potted citrus.

I hope what I see in that picture is just mulch on the top surface, and is not the actual soil.

What I see looks like terrible potting soil and would not be any good at holding moisture, and if that was your soil your tree is unlikely to do well.

Most people on this forum use Tapla's 5-1-1 gritty mix or a variation of that mixture for their fruit trees in containers.

Tapla's 5-1-1 Mix

5 parts pine bark fines

1 part sphagnum peat

1-2 parts perlite

garden lime

controlled release fertilizer (not really necessary)

a micro-nutrient source (seaweed emulsion, Earthjuice, Micro-max, STEM, etc,)

socalnolympia, Yes it is just mulch, I mulched all my plants in Nov for the first time ever. It's really been helping. I cringe when I hear that 5-1-1. As a horticulturist I can't take that seriously. There is no soil or dirt in that mix.. so it's more for people who like to water everyday in much cooler areas.

Matt I use a variation of that mix with 1/3 of the mixture containing fox farm ocean soil and GB raised bed and potting mix. And instead of 5-1-1 I use 3-1-1.

But I say if your trees and plants are healthy and productive with whatever mix you are using then stick with that mix. As they say if it aint broke why fix it. :)
