Smeg Portofino Range??

Curious if anybody has experience with the latest Smeg Portofino ranges? They got high marks in Good Housekeeping review this year for excellent dual fuel performance... The company is gaining traction in U.S. through their boutique style goods at Williams Sonoma and Neiman Marcus, but have not seen any real info about their major appliances like the 48" Portofino Range...

Dunno but if you're looking for 48", dual-fuel ranges available in various colors, you might want to compare it to the Zline ranges which are similar, generally well-liked by owners, and less expensive.

Thank you.. I am familiar with Zline and the other similar ranges from NXR, Thor, Forno, etc. I know that Smeg costs significantly more, but Portofino does offers stylish build quality and added features. Just looking for info from somebody who might be familiar with them.... Note that the Smeg range in the link you attached is the not the Portofino model.. Check out this one: https://www.houzz.com/pvp/smeg-portofino-pro-style-48-freestanding-dual-fuel-range-white-prpv-pv~141368274?m_refid=PLA_HZ_141368274_10577568224&device=c&nw=u&gclid=CjwKCAiAwrf-BRA9EiwAUWwKXhdyGASM-E7Z9ZXtOAAn211cCFYVlqREcl-Vmc4Akze16AYt2DczmRoCDUEQAvD_BwE

"Note that the Smeg range in the link you attached is the not the Portofino model"

    1. The appliances on the webpage are sorted in price order. Scroll down to the expensive Portofino models.
    2. You might want to check the oven size(s). Sometimes even huge ranges have small ovens. For comparison, this LG LSD4913ST 30" range has a 6.3 cf oven.
    3. Read the Owners Manual. You may find that the range has few (or no) features compared with even modest 30" models. That LG has many features at 1/3rd the price.
    4. I don't know how you assessed the build quality.
    5. When copying a URL, only copy the portion up to the "?".

Zline? Look on this site for Zline reviews. People are absolutely beating it to death. look elsewhere

"People are absolutely beating it to death."
Snobby "reviewers". Unrepresentative sample. No specific models mentioned. Old products rather than current models discussed. Mostly useless.

The real issue that people run into is service of these machines. That includes any mfg, big or small. Its all great until they break and then that's the problem. that is what Zline customers seem to be saying in that posting. Find a local dealer that sells it and then see if they service what they sell. If it is dumped off to a separate service organization, call them and speak to someone who can tell you if they like them or not, if they see them often and what do they think. That means talking to the service manager, not the person that answers the phone.

It is also a myth that any service person can fix anything - that is not true. Every mfg has a different way of designing hardware and software. That takes time to learn. If it is frustrating to the service dept, they just won't fix it well, if at all

ask Smeg for the local dealer and then ask that dealer about service. Its the only way to do it

There are plenty of negative reviews about almost every product, and I am sure Zline makes a nice value oriented range with its own hits and misses... However, if you read about the several cooking modes of the Smeg Portofino, the additional convection fans, and its other flexibilities it is not really comparing apples with apples..It is more expensive and offers more modes and options for cooking. The Good Housekeeping review lauded its baking performance. That said, the fact that it is not yet widely reviewed or available creates a big cautionary concern... I agree that customer support and availability of service is important...

i have had Smeg in the past been great, but the induction cooktop on the Portofino isnt great, the centre rlement does not heat up properly, they have replaced it twice and still no good! very disappointing as this is the largest element in the middle!

SMEG ranges in the Portofino line are only gas or dual-fuel.
